While we can potentially reach the whole world with the smart phone in our pockets, the whole world competes for attention. But both politically and socially, you have the ability to make the most impact locally.
On the local level, there are more events and culture happening in Northwest Georgia than you might realize.
This weekly listing won’t include everything, but I want to offer an opportunity for more people to enjoy what’s happening in Northwest Georgia and connect with their neighbors.
FRIDAY
There’s a whole bunch of community events happening at Rock Spring’s Grindstone Tavern and Pie Slingers Pizzeria! On Wednesdays, there’s an open mic at Grindstone, on Thursdays line dancing, and they often have live music on weekends. Check their Facebook pages for times and specifics.
On Friday night at Grindstone, Sam Hoyle and Jason Woodward are performing. Sam’s got some videos on TikTok— some of it is acoustic gospel with some really nice harmonies.

On both Friday and Saturday night, Sexy Beast will be playing a blend of 80s, current hits, pop, and dance music at Ringold’s Farm to Fork.

SATURDAY
“Let Us Tell Our Story” is a film featuring interviews with black residents of Walker County who lived during the pre- and early history of racial integration.
Saturday’s showing is the first event in a series celebrating 60 years of racial integration in, what the event calls, Far Northwest Appalachian Georgia.

A lineup of over a dozen musical acts are scheduled for a Jayhawk Songwriter Events show Saturday!
The show is headlined by Jason Ringenberg, and includes Tommy Womack, Mic Harrison, and Raelyn Nelson & Jonathan Bright.
Raelyn is the granddaughter of Willie Nelson, and performed a few weeks ago at Cherry Street Tavern in Chattanooga.
The show is at Petunia’s Silver Jalapeno in Chickamauga— a restaurant that I haven’t heard of but will visit because they make the effort to support live music.
18381 Hwy 193, Chickamauga * 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. * no cover, donations taken
